By far this is a good book, but it took some time to read. The author goes into a lot of detail and describes everything so eloquently that you are thrown into a very elaborate imagery. You delve deep into the mind and heart of each character leaving you helpless to each passing dramatic circumstance. You feel the happiness when love is found, you feel the terror of secrets being uncovered, and you feel the emptiness of love lost. This book is good for those vacation days of wanting to be entertained other than the television.
Growing up together through the restrictive 1950s and confusing 60s Jackson Jack Grace and Ned Brummel took solace in their love for each other. But once they arrive at college in 1969 and meet handsome farm boy Andy Kowalski, everything changes. Despite Andys apparent heterosexuality, both Jack and Ned fall in hard for him, straining their close friendship. Soon, the three men will become involved in a series of intense liaisons and bitter betrayal, coming together and flying apart, as they alternately hurt, love, shape, and heal one another over the course of years. From the heady, Drug- and sex fueled days of San Francisco in the wild 70s to the haunting specter of AIDS in the 80s and the righteous activism of the 90s, their relationship transforms and grows, reflecting the changes going on around them. Now together again in the most crucial and intimate of settings, Ned, Jack, and Andy have another chance to confront the damage of the past and embrace the bonds of friendship and love that have stood the test of time.

Rating Two Thumbs up
This is a very erotic drama. Very well written and any one who has had to hide their sexuality and be with the opposite sex will really appreciate the intense emotions the writer. When the person youre seeing detects and confronts you with their suspicions is a one thing but to challenge you to a game of seduction is when things really get strange, twisted, dramatic, and in turn intriguing and erotic. I have played this game but it was a female friend from high school who suspected her husband was attracted to me and we had set him up for a rendezvous with me to see how far he would go. The out come was they got divorced and I lost my friends forever, although it was her idea. This movie hit the nail right on the button for me and maybe some of the readers as well.
In one of Frances elite private schools, a group of attractive 20-something students find themselves enmeshed in emotional and sexual power games. These games become a lot more heated and complicated when Paul(gregori Baquet) finds himself attracted to both a lower-class Arab worker (salim Kechiouche) and Louis-Arnault, his roommate(Jocelyn Quivrin) even though he already has a girlfriend.

Hi,
I am trying to start a new social club here in Visalia. We plan on meeting every Saturday at 6:00 pm at the Borders. We are going to meet and discuss books, write, vacation, travel, family...etc. We also plan on taking field trips based on what the group is interested in doing.
We will be a group of people who come from many backgrounds and want to keep discrimination out. This will be a group that keeps the drama out. I don't want to have to bounce anyone out...lol.
Families are welcome, don't feel like you can't bring the kids. We will be doing activities that are free or close to free so we don't go broke.
Tonight's Discussion:
* Introductions
* Brain storming for ideas the group can do for upcoming gatherings
* Writing--for those of you interested 2 pages are dDue tonight. Poetry, Prose, Short stories, beginnings of a book, etc.. We will be sharing our writing and getting feed back from other members. So, bring something you don't mind other people reading.
* Coming up with next weeks agenda and a place to meet if Borders isn't good for anyone. We can move it closer to those who come further than others to change it up to make it easier on everyone.

After discussions with Ralph and a lot of time to reflect on this, effective this Month, we are not going to be facilitating the RAINBOWLERS or the POOL SHOOTERS. I am no longer going to be the distributor of Newslink locally anymore. Newslink is still available to anyone online and you can find a link to it on this site.
All good things run its cource in life and it's been great having been involved in these events and the distribution of Newslinks. It's time to move on and do other things. Both of us will still be supporting and attending community events.
Hopefully someone in our community will consider continuing the bowling, pool shooting or distributing the Newlinks.
I would like to introduce you to the V-Town Derby Dames!
Yes Visalia, we have roller derby! I got an email from a team member who wanted me to do some PR. Who knew this was in our own backyard? Perhaps I'm just in the dark? I've been asked to come watch them practice and do some interviews (poor me, hee hee). I hope to make a practice soon and be able to give you all an update, so stay tuned!
In the meantime, they are having a bout on August 15th at Roller Towne. Come out and watch some lovely ladies playing rough. This isn't the fake stuff, it's the real deal. See the flyer below for the bout information. They are also always looking for new talent so if any of you are interested in trying out or learning more about the team give Regina Johnson, aka Mama BrokeHer for more information, 901-7628.
We always need fun things to do in Visalia and here is another opportunity to have a good time.
Porterville City Council needs to hear from you, in your own words ASAP regarding this Tuesday's Resolution written by Cameron Hamilton in which he would have Porterville officially condemn Mark Leno's SB54 bill which clarifies the State's position for same sex couples that are legally married in other states.
And we need you to write and to attend Tuesday's meeting which is sure to be dramatic. We need you if you care about SSM and even if you do not live in Porterville.
Note how former-Mayor Hamilton admits Prop 8 is discriminatory, but that it is fine for "the People" to enshrine discrimination in the law by majority vote.
We have worked for 11 months to educate Council regarding their errors in last September's Resolution urging local citizens to vote for Prop 8.
Now is the time for a great push to get the vote we need.
We have pointed out repeatedly at every public meeting how voting in favor of anti-SSM Resolutions is:
- bad governance,
- destructive to Porterville' s reputation in the economic development industry,
- divisive where we need to be inclusive for the City to be the best it can be,
- not proper for a City Council to consider at all as SSM is a State and Federal matter
We have indications that the vote will go our way -
that means that Hamilton's Resolution will be voted down. That would be a remarkable reversal of last year's unanimous votes.
But we can not count our chickens before they hatch!
Our opposition has been quiet for a while, and I have heard they expect to turn busloads of church goers out to Tuesday's meeting. They were shocked and outraged at the reversal Councilmen Pedro Martinez, Felipe Martinez and Mayor Pete McCracken when they didn't simply rubber-stamp Hamilton's hateful proposal this time.
WE NEED YOUR IMMEDIATE HELP!
The opposition has been flooding all Councilmembers with cut and paste letters. Yes, they can't come to the meetings and they can't write their own damn letters.
But you can!
And you will! :)
The meeting is at 7PM on Tuesday August 4 at City Hall on Main Street in Porterville.
Please write each member, and copy me on the mail so I can keep track of how much mail each is getting. And let me know by email (bcaplan@gmail. com) if you will be attending the meeting.

The
Get Engaged
Tour , organized by Marriage Equality USA, was a recent set of
meetings held throughout the state of California, including one here in Fresno,
which I participated in with other local LGBT groups and activists. The
meetings solicited communities to come out, listen to results of polling data
concerning public opinion on same sex marriage, and to offer up opinions and
ideas of how the battle for marriage equality should move forward. The tour
ended a couple of weeks ago, with the results shared at a summit held last
weekend in San Bernardino. You can watch some of the video of the summit HERE. (Apparently technical problems resulted in
some video being lost, and be prepared for a difficult time watching some of
the meeting, as the camera was swung and jerked around far too much and audio
is less than great. How about setting the camera up in one place in the back of
the room so we don't get a headache and we can at least follow the
conversation?)
From
virtually all honest accounts, the meeting was not good. Contentious and
divided, there still seems to be no clear strategy in sight. Unite The Fight
called the meeting an utter failure on their blog, going into great
detail about our now fractured movement. The blog hit more than a few nails on
the head when it pointed out that anyone with a different point of view in this
movement is ridiculed and has their head bitten off, and that a few massive egos
are derailing any chance of unity simply because they want to be the ones with
the brass ring in their hand at the end of the ride. (I'll add that I couldn't
find anything on the Unite the Fight site about who runs it, and blog entries
are simply credited to "Unite The Fight". And with such a strong
opinion in the blog about unity and not ridiculing other groups, it seems
strange that in their list of action sites, virtually everyone is mentioned
with the exception of EQCA.)
